How much are Dues? Dues are $40.00, which can be paid all at once in September, or can be broken into two payments of $20.00, with the first payment due by the end of September and the second payment due by Pinewood Derby Race Day at the end of January 2008. Where do my dues go? Pack 150 offers your scout many great opportunities for free or at a low cost to you and/or your scout. However, there are some expenses that the Pack pays for in the upcoming year that your dues help to cover. Here is a break-down of how we use your dues: ¬ Boy’s Life Magazine Subscription fee $12 per year ¬ Handbook for your Scout which ranges in price $4 - 6 ¬ Rechartering: This is done every February and costs Cub Pack 150 about $12 per scout. ¬ Insurance: For Leaders and the Boys---over $2 per person ¬ Pinewood Derby Car: cost approx. $5 each. ¬ Awards/Blue & Gold Banquet approx. $25+ per scout As you can see, the cost to Cub Pack 150 yearly is approximately $70 per scout. This does not include the costs of other items that the Pack purchases for siblings, Pack activities, and den activities. Your $40.00 in dues does not cover all of our costs. How does Cub Pack 150 make up the difference in costs? We are able to make up the difference in costs through fund-raising. We do fund-raising in the following ways: ¬ Popcorn Sales September/October We have different ways available for you and your scout to help sell Trails End Popcorn. They are: ¬ Popcorn Show & Sells – This is done by going to a location as a Pack and selling the popcorn directly to the customer. (Please see the calendar for dates & times). ¬ Popcorn Show & Delivers – This is done by going door-to-door and selling popcorn directly to customers in the community. ¬ Popcorn Take-Orders – This is done by friends/family/neighbors ordering popcorn from the scout. They would have the opportunity to purchase popcorn that is not always available for purchase at Show & Sells/Show & Delivers. Java Joes Coffee Take Orders September/October ¬ Sub Sales January & April: for every sub sold by the scout, he will earn $1.25 towards camp. So if the scout sells 60 subs, he will have earned $75 for camp. How does fund-raising help my scout? In addition to all that is listed above that the Pack provides your scout, fund-raising is a great way for your scout to help “earn” money for Summer Camp. This is done in the following ways: Money from Popcorn Show & Sells: for every hour that your scout “works”, he will earn credits based on that day’s sales. These credits are then used towards camp, uniforms or camping gear. While participation is not mandatory, we strongly encourage you & your scout’s participation as it is a very easy way for those who may find it difficult to sell popcorn. *Please see a Leader for further information.* How much does camp cost? Cub Scout Camp: This is a three day sleep-over camp at Camp Mack for Tigers and Wolfs, estimated cost is $160.00. Webelos Camp: This is a six day sleep-over camp at Camp Mack for Bears and Webelos estimated cost is $240.00. |
